Spring%20Motorcycle Sundays are lazy days for most but for riders Sunday is the day for hitting the road and discovering new places. I, like most riders, get out on the road around 10:00am and cruising for a few hours before I put my kickstand down and fill my belly. I am a sucker for all things burger or chicken and in my travels I have found a few spots that I crave throughout my busy week. Here in flatlander country of Illinois, there are many places that the ride is just as great as the food! decorative-lines-thin messies-bar-and-grill     Go West Young Rider-Go West! On your way to Savannah Illinois always calls for a stop at Messies Bar and Grill in Oregon. Right off Rte 64 on River Road you need to get your order in for the Broasted Chicken minutes after you park because it takes a bit longer than other menu items but this is what Messies is famous for. Not into chicken? Get one of their excellent burgers! Ask for an order of fried cauliflower while you are waiting and you will not be disappointed. Great crowd, friendly bartenders and a fantastic outdoor area. Messies is a busy spot so be patient; it’s well worth it. decorative-lines-thin the spotYou want a burger bigger than your head? Get over to The Spot in Marengo, IL. Located at 214 South State Street, the Half pound burger with onion rings is the best. It is so big it sometimes has to be shared. This is one legit burger and The Spot been a fixture on motorcycle travel for years. Plenty of parking on the main drag, Marengo, on Sundays can look a bit desolate but the Spot is jumping. Great bartenders and cold beer tops off a great meal. Get your spot at The Spot! decorative-lines-thin

Going north? The trip to Hebron Illinois is a fast and straight shot North for most riders and the best spot on a Sunday for fried chicken! Crandall’s Restaurant on Rte 47 is hands down the best Broasted Chicken around. Get an order with mashed potatoes and you will be in a food coma. Start with the cheese and cracker spread and you feel like you were transported to a Wisconsin Supper Club. The Sunday brunch starts at 11:00am and the Broasted chicken deals start at 1:30pm. Get there and order any combination of cluck cluck parts to make your meal memorable. Oh and where else in Illinois can you find an 8 foot tall Rooster?  decorative-lines-thin

A trip down to Verona Illinois would not be complete without a stop at EJ Karz. Located on Grand Ridge Road, EJ Karz has a menu that will satisfy anyone’s tastes. You have to try the Chicken Ranch Bacon Melt which boasts a half pound chicken breast slapped between two slices of Texas Toast with bacon. Bacon; need I say more? Or if you want something other than burgers, get the buffalo rings appetizer then dig into the smoked brisket portabella pasta if that trips your trigger. Hang around and check out the cool cars and bikes or kick your feet up and listen to great local music.4bZFYB-z_400x400   decorative-lines-thin
